JNS: The election campaigning for the second phase of voting in 12 states and one union territory has concluded. Following this, there will be no public meetings. However, candidates and celebrity campaigners are permitted to go door-to-door and solicit votes for the next 48 hours.
On April 26, the second phase of voting will take place for 88 Lok Sabha seats. Among the 1,206 candidates in the fray are Union Minister Rajiv Chandrashekhar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Shashi Tharoor, actress Hema Malini, and Ram Arun Govil from the Ramayana serial.
In this phase, key contests include former Congress President Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad, Hema Malini from Mathura, and Arun Govil from Meerut. Shashi Tharoor is challenging Union Minister Chandrashekhar from Thiruvananthapuram. The Jammu Lok Sabha seat sees BJP’s Jugal Kishore pitted against Congress’ Raman Bhalla, with Ghulam Nabi Azad’s DPAP attempting to make the race triangular by fielding GM Saruri. Overall, there are 22 candidates vying for this seat.
