New Delhi: Indian President Droupadi Murmu today awarded the prestigious ‘Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar’ to 17 exceptional children for their outstanding achievements across seven categories.
The award ceremony, held in New Delhi, recognized the young achievers for their contributions in Art and Culture, Bravery, Innovation, Science and Technology, Social Service, Sports, and Environment.
The awardees, representing 14 states and union territories, were presented with a medal, a certificate, and a citation booklet.
In her address, President Murmu honored the bravery and sacrifice of the Sahibzadas on Veer Bal Diwas, commemorating the courage of the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs. She highlighted the significance of this day, which is observed annually to pay tribute to the unparalleled sacrifice of the Sikh martyrs.
Congratulating the awardees, the President expressed admiration for their extraordinary work, calling their accomplishments “astonishing.” She emphasized that the children’s exceptional qualities and achievements would serve as an inspiration for the entire nation. President Murmu also encouraged the widespread sharing of their stories through various media platforms to raise awareness and inspire others.
The President further stressed that recognizing and providing opportunities for children’s talents is a longstanding tradition in India, one that should be continued and strengthened. She remarked that by the year 2047, when India celebrates the centenary of its independence, these young awardees would be well-established, enlightened citizens, contributing to the development of a prosperous nation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar recipients, offering his congratulations and best wishes.
