PWD seals Delhi CM Atishi’s official bungalow

New Delhi: On Wednesday, the Public Works Department (PWD) sealed the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, which had recently been vacated by former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The PWD stated that the keys to the bungalow were supposed to be handed over to them but were instead directly given to Atishi.

Atishi moved her belongings into the North Delhi bungalow on Monday. The Delhi Chief Minister’s Office later claimed that all of Atishi’s belongings had been removed from the Chief Minister’s residence at the direction of the Delhi Lieutenant Governor.

Delhi Assembly Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta criticized the move, stating that Atishi’s relocation was illegal and questioning why the bungalow was not properly handed over to the PWD. He expressed concerns over the secrecy surrounding the bungalow’s key transfer.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva echoed these sentiments, alleging that the bungalow was still under Kejriwal’s control and that Atishi’s access was unconstitutional. He questioned the legitimacy of Atishi occupying the bungalow when she had already been allotted a different one.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) responded by accusing BJP officials of obstructing the allotment of the bungalow to Atishi. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh claimed that the bungalow had been vacated correctly and that the BJP was attempting to “usurp” it.

The controversy continues as both parties exchange accusations regarding the handling of the property and the legality of Atishi’s move.
