JNS: Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, along with current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, extended their congratulations to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking the oath of office for an unprecedented third term on Monday.
Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his felicitations via social media, writing: “Felicitations to @narendramodi on taking oath as the Prime Minister of India.” Prime Minister Modi promptly responded, expressing his gratitude: “Thank you @cmshehbaz for your good wishes.”
Although Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif was not invited to the oath-taking ceremony, several other key leaders, including Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina and Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, attended the grand event.
In a positive and forward-looking message, Nawaz Sharif urged the Indian Prime Minister to embrace a new chapter in bilateral relations. “My warm felicitations to Modi Ji (@narendramodi) on assuming office for the third time. Your party’s success in recent elections reflects the confidence of the people in your leadership. Let us replace hate with hope and seize the opportunity to shape the destiny of the two billion people of South Asia,” he stated.
Nawaz Sharif’s call for hope and cooperation highlights a potential shift towards improving relations between the neighboring countries, emphasizing the need for collaborative leadership to benefit the entire South Asian region.
