RNS: SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has marked a historic milestone in its performance for the financial year 2023-24, setting new benchmarks in production, dispatch, and techno-economic parameters.
The fiscal year witnessed BSL achieving its highest-ever figures in oven pushing, gross sinter production, hot metal output from four furnace operations, crude steel production from SMS-New, total crude steel, and CR salable production.
Additionally, the company established new records in overall energy consumption, coke rate, CDI rate, and other techno-economic parameters, as well as in the dispatch of granulated slag.
Notably, Bokaro Steel Plant experienced a notable increase in key products during FY 2023-24 compared to the preceding year. The production figures included 4,725,529 tonnes of hot metal, 4,309,143 tonnes of crude steel, and 3,989,921 tonnes of salable steel.
The dispatch of 4,006,700 tonnes of salable steel from four furnace operations marked a significant achievement, setting a new record in the history of Bokaro Steel Plant. This performance translated to a 4.6% increase in hot metal production, 4.7% in crude steel, 7.6% in CR salable steel, and 3.8% in total salable steel compared to FY 2022-23.
In addition to these achievements, Bokaro Steel Plant also set numerous daily, monthly, quarterly, and half-yearly records throughout FY 2023-24.
On April 1, Executive Director (Operations) Birendra Kumar Tiwari visited various departments of the plant to congratulate the entire team, including officers, workers, and contract workers, on this remarkable feat.
He urged them to further enhance their performance in the new financial year, emphasizing the importance of transportation, safety, and quality.
