Dhanbad: The Sarvadharma Mass Marriage Committee successfully organized a dowry-free marriage ceremony for 95 couples, marking its 11th year of service. Committee president Pradeep Singh shared that the initial target was to marry 101 couples, with 95 couples registering for the event. Of the 95, 88 Hindu, 6 Christian, and 1 Muslim couple were married according to their respective religious customs.
In a unique environmental initiative, all the grooms’ baraats were taken out on totos, accompanied by drums and fireworks, to reduce environmental impact. The weddings were held on a single stage at the Golf Ground, where the couples were garlanded together.
Since its inception in 2014, the Sarvadharma Mass Marriage Committee has facilitated the marriages of 994 couples, with this being the largest such event in Jharkhand. On this occasion, several social workers were honoured, and Cham Cham Devi, president of the Kinnar Samaj, donated Rs. 51,000 to the committee.
The event saw significant contributions from local organizations, including the Dhanbad District Decorated Organization, Dhanbad Press Club, Bank More Chamber of Commerce, Shakti Mandir Seva Trust, and others, who played key roles in organizing the wedding program. After the ceremony, the newlywed couples were given a grand farewell.
