Ranchi: The Sarala Birla University’s Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), hosted a workshop titled “Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Career Opportunities.” The event, aimed at students across various disciplines including Commerce and Management, Engineering, Law, and Pharmacy, took place today at the university’s campus.
The workshop was inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp-lighting by distinguished guests including Prof. S.B. Dandin, Acting Vice-Chancellor of SBU, Dr. Pankaj K. Goswami, President of IIC, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Vice President of IIC, Dr. Goutam Tanty, Dean of Humanities and Linguistics, Dr. Neelima Pathak, and NAAC Advisor Mr. Brij Bhushan Pandey.
Dr. Goutam Tanty, Convener of the IIC, kicked off the session with a welcome address, outlining the council’s objectives, roles, and functions.
Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Business Management and Vice President of IIC, delivered a keynote on “Entrepreneurship and Start-Ups.” He emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship in driving innovation, creating jobs, and spurring economic growth.
Dr. Sandeep elaborated on the stages of a startup and encouraged students to transform business ideas into new products that address societal challenges through technology integration.
Dr. Pankaj K. Goswami, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Applied Sciences and President of IIC, spoke on “Technology Required for Upskilling.” His address focused on the crucial aspects of innovation, highlighting four key strategies: critical thinking, boundary expansion, distinctiveness, and problem-solving.
In a motivational address, Professor S.B. Dandin encouraged students to explore their skills and seek guidance for career advancement. He drew inspiration from prominent Indian entrepreneurs such as Mukesh Ambani, Ratan Tata, Narayana Murthy, Azim Premji, Lakshmi Mittal, and Shiv Nadar, urging students to learn from their successes as they embark on their own entrepreneurial journeys.
The workshop was hosted by Dr. Nitya Garg, a member of the IIC and coordinator of IQAC, with Animesh Sarkar, also a member of IIC, delivered the vote of thanks. The event was well-attended by IIC and IQAC members as well as students from BBA and BTech CSE programs.
The workshop provided valuable insights into entrepreneurship and innovation, equipping students with the knowledge and inspiration needed to pursue their career goals effectively.
