Sri Lankan President to Arrive in India Today for Three-Day Visit

New Delhi: Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will visit India from December 15 to 17, marking his first trip to the country since his recent election victory. The visit, announced by India’s Ministry of External Affairs, will include meetings with Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss bilateral issues of mutual interest.

During his visit, President Dissanayake will also attend a business event in Delhi to strengthen commercial ties between India and Sri Lanka. Additionally, he will visit Bodh Gaya.

Sri Lanka is considered India’s closest maritime neighbor in the Indian Ocean Region, a relationship central to Prime Minister Modi’s ‘SAGAR’ vision and the ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy. Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had invited President Dissanayake to India during his visit to Sri Lanka in October.
