Bokaro: Vesuvius, a key business partner of ESL Steel Limited, has made a significant contribution to ESL’s CSR initiatives by investing in several community welfare projects at ESL project sites.
The initiative included the inauguration of four Smart Bio Toilets, a Pure Drinking Water Machine, and the organization of a Hygiene Awareness session, with a focus on menstrual hygiene education for school children, especially girls.
The Menstrual Hygiene Awareness session, which is a regular feature of ESL’s CSR programs, aimed to promote better health and hygiene practices among students, encouraging them to adopt informed and healthier lifestyles. The program also involved the distribution of 450 school bags to students, ensuring their continued enthusiasm and participation in education.
In addition, a tree plantation drive was conducted at Madhunia High School to promote environmental sustainability. The event saw the participation of several distinguished guests, including Pratima Das, Block Education Officer; Pradeep Kumar, Madhunia Panchayat Mukhiya; Suman Trivedi, Head Refractory, ESL; Kunal Daripa, Head CSR, ESL; and Arvind Kumar Singh, Business Head, VIL.
The inauguration included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a traditional felicitation with shawls and bouquets.
The event was also attended by key officials from Vesuvius India Limited, including Atanu Mukherjee, Head Sales; Jalaram Aya, Senior Manager; Rajshree Das from Vesuvius’ CSR Department; Shardendu Tripathi from ESL’s CSR team; along with school principal Suresh Jha, teachers, and students.
Speaking at the event, Suman Trivedi, Head of Refractory at ESL, emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “By inaugurating the Smart Bio Toilets, a Pure Drinking Water Machine, and organizing a Hygiene Awareness session, we are taking meaningful steps to improve health and hygiene in our communities.”

A special training session on menstrual hygiene was conducted by Vesuvius India Limited, where schoolgirls were educated about menstruation and the importance of maintaining proper hygiene during their menstrual cycles.
This initiative is part of ESL and Vesuvius’ ongoing efforts to uplift local communities and create lasting, positive impacts.
