Bokaro: In observance of World Suicide Prevention Day, Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) organized an awareness campaign in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Bokaro on September 10th. The event, held under the guidance of Dr. Vibhuti Bhushan Karunamay, In-charge of Bokaro General Hospital, focused on this year’s theme, “Change The Narrative.”
The inaugural session of the program was attended by Dr. Anand Kumar, Chief Medical Officer; Dr. Aninda Mandal, Chief Medical Officer; senior doctors from BGH; psychiatrists Dr. T. Sudhir and Dr. Prabhat Kumar; as well as paramedical staff, nursing students, and other hospital staff.
Dr. Ashok Das, Head of the Psychiatry Department at BGH, opened the program by addressing various aspects related to suicide. Dr. Anand Kumar then spoke on suicide prevention, stressing the importance of discussing one’s issues with doctors, family, and friends. Dr. Aninda Mandal added that such programs are crucial in encouraging people to open up about their problems.
Dr. Prabhat Kumar and Dr. Gaurav Vishal, General Secretary of IMA Bokaro Steel City, emphasized the critical need for awareness on suicide prevention. The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Varsha Ghanekar, ACMO of BGH, who extended special thanks to the students, teachers, and Principal of the Nursing School at BGH for their successful organization of the event.
